Similar to walking around the classroom, instructors can switch between their zoom breakout rooms for their classes. To learn more about breakout rooms, view this video from Zoom.

A couple of minutes after your meeting or class session ends, you will receive an email from Zoom telling you that your video is ready to view.  If you aren’t using Moodle, you can distribute that video using any tool you prefer (Google Drive, YouTube, etc.).  If you are using Moodle, we have set up a tool, called Kaltura, that will automatically pull all of your Zoom recordings into Moodle.  All you have to do is tell Moodle which course you’d like your course content in.  We have created this document site to help you with Kaltura in Moodle.

Kaltura also has a lecture capture application (like Loom), that can be used to upload content directly to Kaltura, and can be added to your Moodle course.

Note that Zoom cloud recordings are automatically deleted after 30 days, but this does not affect recordings available in Kaltura, Google Drive, or Youtube.

You do not need to have a new meeting for each class period, one link for the semester will suffice. We do recommend that you have a unique link for each course you teach, but only one link for office hours that are virtual.

If you are teaching in a larger room this semester, you will be contacted by our team to be connected to a lapel microphone that hooks into the classroom PA system to make sure that you will be able to be heard.

Yes! It is fine to use Airplay to connect to your projector while you are using Zoom on a laptop.

If you are using an iPad to join a Zoom call, sharing your iPad’s screen into the Zoom call, and trying to project your iPad’s screen onto a projector via Airplay all at the same time you will need to use HDMI to plug your iPad into the projector instead. iOS does not let you share your screen on a video call and use Airplay at the same time.

In the Zoom call, you have to set the speaker output to be the Same as System. To do this, select the up arrow next to the mute/unmute button in the bottom left of the screen. Then under Select a Speaker, select Same as System.
